Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Missed being you guys this Sunday, but the trip with Ben went well. I enjoyed having this long block of time with my son and seeing the young man he's becoming.

This week might be a good time for us to kick around anything that's in your mind about eschatology. Let me know questions you have or maybe just thoughts that you're having. Hearing from you will give me a better sense of where you are as I prepare for Sunday. (Oh, and please tell me that you get the joke of the title of this post. Please tell me that I'm not that much older than all of you!)

I got the post. I think most people in the class would. Easily one of the greatest movies of all time. Such a classic line by Ben Stein. How about this one. Do you think there will be questions in heaven? I mean hard questions. I feel that pre-destination is a huge issue. We'll know the answer to that when we get to heaven right? We'll also know so many other things that raise so many questions among christians. I just wonder what types of questions we will have for each other when we know the answers. I wanted to know your thoughts on that.

I do think there will still be questions in heaven. Think of it this way: God is infinite; we are finite. That doesn't change even though we are perfected in Heaven. So, I'm thinking that we will spend eternity learrning more and more of who he is. Any good teacher (me included) would tell you that you can't learn if you don't ask questions!

Remember also that who you'll be able to chat with then about your questions. Struggling with predestination? Maybe spending some time with John Calvin or John Knox might clear things up. Can't quite get a handle on the Westminster confession. Reconvene the Westminster divines and have them talk you back through their original discussions

One of the things that probably makes it hard for us to grasp is how we're still locked in time. We can't imagine the long, deep, uninterrupted intimacy we'll have with the rest of the saints because we're so used to having to hurry off to take care of something urgent. There will be no time in heaven.
